Internships are a great chance for students who want to get hands-on experience before starting their real life work. Bluebik understands these needs and provides opportunities for all students both undergraduates and master students to advance their career to grow as a professional in their future goals.
Meet ‘Woon Parima’, our MBA student at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business who joined an internship program last summer, shares an insider review about what she did and learned at Bluebik.
Hello, I’m Parima and I’m an MBA student at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business, concentrating in Technology Strategy and Product Management. Before the MBA program, I worked at a technology consulting firm specializing in project implementation. I have always been interested in digital transformation and the opportunities to reinvent and innovate businesses for higher and more impactful growth. This leads me to the Bluebik internship opportunity where I interned as part of the Pitch team for 3 months. Throughout the internship, there are many valuable experiences and lessons learned that I will be sharing in this Insider Review. Follow along and get an inside glimpse into life at Bluebik.
On the first day of the internship, I arrived at the office fully clothed in business attire. As I made my way up the elevator and walked in, I was greeted by a co-working space that they called the Hot Seat area, a part of Bluebik’s policy where anyone can work from anywhere. In addition, everyone is dressed casually. These setups highlight Bluebik’s culture where the main focus is on the work and personal accountability rather than the process. This value is reflected in the work environment and the ways of working. I was amazed by the transparent and open structure at Bluebik where there is no hierarchy and I had multiple opportunities to work with and learn from business partners and managers from different teams. It was in this environment that for my internship I was able to not only learn, but also become a part of the team.
Aside from the work environment and company’s culture, I would like to share a short overview of my daily life during the internship. Throughout 3 months, I was staffed on more than 7 projects ranging from a wide array of industries, some I have never worked with before. As part of the pitch team, we are in charge of first understanding the client’s situation and uncovering their needs. Our objective is to strategically identify and present an initial recommendation and execution plan in order to persuade clients to invest in our teams. As we often say we are delivering work that is “from ambition to reality.” My daily routine consisted of meetings with the pitch team, clients, and business partners, strategic brainstorming sessions, slide debriefing, and research. As a former implementation analyst, this was a great opportunity for me to be exposed to and experienced the strategy side of consulting.
It has been an amazing opportunity to intern at Bluebik. For those looking to learn more about consulting and digital transformation, I highly recommend exploring life at Bluebik. You will receive not only industry insights and hands-on experience but also support and advice.
